Personal Salvation During the Coming Economic Chaos – Part 5

A person may believe that he embraces the philosophy of rational selfishness–but still not have control of his thoughts, feelings and emotions. Because of this he acts in an irrationally selfish manner–especially when presented with unpleasant circumstances.

I guarantee that the coming economic chaos will bring out the worst in many people. Jealousy, envy, anger, hate, revenge, covetousness and despair will be plentiful. The misery index soars to the stratosphere. You certainly don’t want to be among the members of this crowd. If you desire the life of the rationally selfish–you must have control over your thoughts, feelings and emotions. You act as a rationally selfish individual acts. You discover personal salvation.

A Daily Affair

How do you feel when you awake in the morning? Do you experience positive thoughts and emotions? Are you energetic–ready to take on the challenges life presents you? Do you have desires, plans and goals that fire up your enthusiasm? Are you ready and committed to taking purposeful action to accomplish what it is you desire? Do you experience the joy of your existence throughout the day? Do you have some Libertarian Pleasures to look forward to?

If you answered yes to the above questions then you are in control of your thoughts, feelings, emotions and actions. You generate positive energy and attract the things and circumstances you need to succeed. Life is a wondrous adventure. You experience pleasure and ecstasy whether the economy is experiencing good times or bad times.

A Recipe for Personal Misery

Sadly, many people wake up in the morning suffering from the overwhelm of negative thoughts, feelings and emotions. Can you imagine how difficult it is for them to become motivated into taking any kind of productive action? They are generating so much negative energy– that even if they manage to pull themselves out of bed–they attract negative people and circumstances–therefore depleting the miniscule amount of positive energy they did possess. By time nightfall arrives, they are extremely tired and they feel the despair caused by their daily whipping. Their only solace is sleep–that is if they don’t suffer from insomnia.

What happens to these people during the coming economic crisis is difficult to envision. Do they escape their pain by indulging in irrationally selfish acts? There are always drugs, excessive alcohol consumption, hours upon hours in front of the television set, over-sleeping–that is if sleep is possible. Maybe exploding into destructive, abusive anger towards others temporarily relieves their suffering.

Of course, ruining your body, mind and spirit and shattering your relationships probably won’t help you experience the joy of your existence. And you definitely won’t survive the coming economic chaos.

The Joy of Your Existence

It is possible to experience the joy of your existence–no matter what is happening around you. Obviously the better control you have over your thoughts, feelings and emotions–and the more effective you are at taking purposive action–the less likely negative events will surround you. Generating positive energy attracts positive people and events. Like attracts like. Generating negative energy attracts–well–negative people and unfortunate circumstances.

The rationally selfish individual understands that his mind is his most powerful weapon in overcoming blocks, obstacles and challenges. He wouldn’t dream of weakening it by indulging in irrationally selfish actions. And he definitely wouldn’t pollute it with the anti-life philosophy of altruism.

You may be thinking that the life of the rationally selfish is the life for you. Experiencing the joy of your existence and enjoying Libertarian pleasures is the way life is supposed to be. However–how do I get there?

In Part 6 I will reveal a few secrets of how to achieve the joyous existence of the rationally selfish. Many people, including some Objectivists, may be surprised.

Robert A. Meyer has been investigating and studying economics, philosophy, psychology and metaphysics for 30 years. He realizes there are basic principles of Human Action that will help you become successful. His knowledge that life is to be lived on a physical, emotional, mental and spiritual level allowed him to discover “The Libertarian Way.” He experiences its many pleasures and ecstasies on a daily basis. http://libertarianway.com/

Personal Salvation During the Coming Economic Chaos – Part 6

You believe that you are a rational individual who has control over his thoughts, feelings and emotions. You take effective actions to achieve your goals. Yet, you don’t appear to be moving closer to what it is you so much desire. You are frustrated and at your wits end. And you wonder how you are going to survive the coming economic chaos. You even consider giving in to irrationally selfish behaviors. If things aren’t going to get any better–you feel that you might as well drink, smoke, drug it up or whatever supplies you with immediate satisfaction. Anyway, tomorrow won’t matter.

Been There – Done It

I certainly understand the appeal of irrationally selfish behavior. I have indulged in it myself. Sometimes I went the whole route and added a touch of altruism to the equation. I don’t think I have to go into all the gory details about the results I achieved from this type of behavior. All I can say is that I paid a heavy price for my unfortunate actions–I am still paying the piper. Fortunately out of my despair I rediscovered a gift–a gift of inestimable value.

As always, I returned to being a rationally selfish individual. Then I ventured farther along on the path and once again discovered the joys of the spiritual realm. I soared to a higher awareness.

Overcoming Alienation

Some Objectivists disdain anything that they can’t prove through deductive or inductive reasoning. And they definitely have a distaste for mysticism. Of course when it comes to social issues, resorting to mysticism results in all the disasters Ayn Rand describes in “Atlas Shrugged.” In fact, during the coming economic chaos Atlas may very well shrug.

When your libertarian beliefs of rational selfishness and unhampered capitalism seem anathema to the masses, it is easy to feel alienated from your fellow man. Alienation is a rather uncomfortable way to exist. Fortunately you can disagree with all the altruism and irrational selfishness that most seem to unfortunately endorse and practice–and still feel and believe you are one with the universe. How do you accomplish this?

Higher Awareness

I believe in becoming spiritually connected to all there is. I call this a universal connection. I’m not really in a position to tell you how to discover this or what it will mean to you. However I can reveal the best method for obtaining this higher state of awareness–a higher state of awareness that allows you to completely overcome obstacles, blocks and challenges. It is meditation. There are also other spiritual practices such as Yoga, Tae Kwon Do, Karate, etc. that are effective in helping you connect to the spiritual realm.

Spiritual practices guarantee that you reason more effectively and tap your intuitive powers. When you are connected with all there is–you experience the joy of your existence–to the max.

Conclusion

To survive and thrive during the coming economic chaos you must:

1. Shun the philosophy of social altruism and be very careful about practicing personal altruism in your personal affairs.

2. Definitely not indulge in irrational selfishness. It is detrimental to your well-being.

3. Be a rationally selfish individual.

4. Endorse the social system of unhampered capitalism.

5. Have control of your thoughts, feelings and emotions in order to be capable of taking effective actions.

6. Practice a spiritual discipline such as meditation. Achieving a state of higher awareness is necessary to maintain a healthy body, mind and spirit.

Personal Salvation During the Coming Economic Chaos – Part 4

Beginning with the creation of those wealth destroying entities called the Federal Reserve System and the Federal Income Tax–politicians, altruists, government bureaucrats and the establishment media have existed for one purpose–and one purpose only–to destroy the capitalistic system and “The American Way of Life.” And tragically they have succeeded quite well. As incredible as it might seem the voters have unwittingly supported them in their evil mission of destruction.

As I mentioned earlier “What you don’t learn through wisdom you learn through woe.” Sadly, wisdom is in extremely short supply. Woe is now the lot of the American people–the difficult times of economic chaos and personal despair. As the Bible states: “But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth (Matthew 8:11-12).” It pains me to acknowledge that this will be the nightmare of many during the coming economic chaos.

The Plans of Altruists and the Irrationally Selfish

Robert Burns said “The best laid plans of mice and men go oft astray.” Since the plans of altruists, politicians and government bureaucrats weren’t very well laid plans–in fact they were based on economic illusions–they had no chance of succeeding. And they have failed miserably–resulting in our current economic crisis and the coming economic chaos. Altruism isn’t a loving, giving philosophy. It is a cannibalistic philosophy of self-sacrifice. It is anti-life.

Unfortunately delusional people seldom give up their delusions. Everything government is doing to “alleviate” our current economic crisis will only worsen the situation. They are taking their illogic to its logical conclusion–total economic breakdown.

Sadly we have become a nation of the irrationally selfish. We want it now–regardless of whether we have produced or earned it. Most Americans demand immediate gratification. They fail to plan or save for the future. The establishment’s favorite economist John Maynard Keynes said “In long run we are all dead.” Even though he is dead–the rest of us are now reaping the terrible effects of his spurious economic theories. Government “thrives” by ignoring the long-run consequences of their policies–and the citizens live as if tomorrow never arrives. Irrational selfishness runs amuck.

Unhampered Capitalism and the Rationally Selfish

The rationally selfish individual supports the social system of unhampered capitalism. He knows that this is the only system based on logic, reason and sound economic principles. Since he or she is basically a benevolent individual–he or she desires value for value relationships that benefit all.

He would never support the predatory systems of socialism and government interventionism because he realizes that these systems extort value from the productive in order to give unearned benefits to the unproductive. He considers all government intervention in the economy as theft. He believes that the government’s only legitimate function is to protect an individual’s life, liberty and property. Some believe we can completely dispense with governments. Others hope and believe that someday the human race will evolve to the point where the “state” withers away.

Conclusion

If you are painfully aware that all government intervention on the marketplace is counter-productive and downright destructive. If you have decided that altruism and irrational selfishness is not in your best interest. And if you realize the rationally selfish life is the one for you–then you have no choice but to support the only system that is rational and logical–unhampered capitalism.

One more incentive for supporting unhampered capitalism. If you have children, if you desire for them to have the chance to embrace new opportunities, and to live a life of happiness and success– you must wholeheartedly embrace the social system of unhampered capitalism. Someday your children’s children’s children may thank you and their lucky stars.

In Part 5 I will discuss the next step the rationally selfish individual must take to guarantee his happiness and success.

Personal Salvation During the Coming Economic Chaos – Part 3

In Part 1, I mentioned that you must avoid the social philosophy of altruism. In Part 2, I explained how irrational selfishness in others and yourself is detrimental to your success and happiness. During good times these cause much mischief and mark the beginning of social and personal decline. During the coming economic chaos they will be deadly for your overall well-being.

You may be asking “Well, what am I supposed to do? I fear for the future of our nation, my loved ones and myself. Or you could be the type of person that can survive and thrive whether times are good or bad. Who is this person that is strong enough to overcome the challenges caused by economic crisis? He is the rationally selfish individual.

Traits of the Rationally Selfish

The rationally selfish person shuns the social philosophy of altruism because he knows it has catastrophic consequences for everyone–even the purveyors of this anti-life nonsense. He would never purposely indulge in irrationally selfish behavior. He is in control of his thoughts, feelings and actions. He understands all causes have effects–and he makes sure he understands cause and effect relationships. He may error in his judgment but he has the ability to adjust his thinking and actions–to achieve his goals and desires.

An individual who practices rational selfishness realizes he is a being who possesses power. He (she) is an individualist. He is totally responsible for his thoughts, feelings and actions. He lives the life of the rationally selfish individual–and he confidently accomplishes his goals and desires. He acts according to what he values–and he wouldn’t consider accepting the second-hand values of others. He has complete confidence in the efficacy of his mind and he takes purposive action. Can you imagine an individual of this caliber lamenting about the fact he doesn’t know where his thoughts come from or why he acts on them in self-destructive ways?

Rational Selfishness and You

Do you passionately desire the life of the rationally selfish individual–or do you prefer to just give up and to live as a leaf at the mercy of the wind–even allowing a gentle breeze to carry you away to pain, suffering and despair. You make the choice. If you decide to live the life of the rationally selfish and enjoy the existence of the individualist, I have some recommendations for you..

1. Indulge in continuous learning. Study the great masters of economics, success philosophy and metaphysics. Exercise your mind. Ignorance doesn’t cut the mustard in a quickly changing world–and it definitely will be detrimental to your survival during the coming economic chaos.

2. Exercise and healthy eating. If you don’t take proper care of your body–eventually not much else will matter. It is irrationally selfish to carelessly allow your body to deteriorate through excessive drinking, drug abuse, filling it with junk food and lack of exercise. Some believe your body is the “Temple of God.” You certainly don’t want to treat your temple with the disrespect of neglect and abuse.

3. Meditation. Controlling your thoughts, feeling and actions are critical–especially during the coming economic chaos. Lack of control spells personal doom and destruction. When everyone around you is losing their heads–not to mention their wealth and security–you act as an individualist acts–you are in total control of the situation. Meditation gives you the ability to control your thoughts, feelings and actions.

Doing the above helps you survive and thrive during the coming economic chaos. In Part 4, I discuss the only social system that can insure the survival of “The American Way of Life.” It is the social system you must endorse and support wholeheartedly to guarantee your own survival.

Personal Salvation During the Coming Economic Chaos – Part 1

The thing we fear most has come upon us–and that is extreme economic crisis. Years of government intervention is reaping havoc on the market place. Deficit spending, easy money policies that cause boom and bust cycles, foreign excursions, excessive taxation, crippling regulations on business, the drug war, war on poverty, welfare schemes, pyramid schemes such as social security, mass liberty violations etc.–are breaking the back of our economy and destroying the American Dream. What is an individual to do? How does he discover personal salvation when everything around him is falling apart?

Illusions and Delusions

Generations of Americans have believed the illusion that government can control the economy and make their lives better. Of course the establishment does everything possible to reinforce this illusion. Politicians and bureaucrats made sure the citizens of our once great nation became dependent on the government for their very existence– reducing them to government benefit addicts. The establishment media is devilishly effective in reinforcing this illusion through the use of their propaganda machine. Once people steadfastly refuse to give up their illusions–become attached to them–they mutate into delusions–delusions that are destroying everything that America once stood for.

Social Altruism

Altruism is the philosophy of selflessness and self-sacrifice. Altruists claim that it is a loving and giving philosophy–but this is nothing but an illusion. It is actually a cannibalistic philosophy of hate and plunder. Government has institutionalized it–and it is the main weapon politicians use to plunder productive citizens. And it is their weapon of choice in their systematic destruction of America. The philosophy of altruism is the philosophy of anti-life.

The media acts as if altruism is the solution to all our problems–even while they are reporting all the stories of crime and economic crisis. You would think they would see the connection. Social altruism destroys both the ones forced to supply the help and the ones who were “helped.” The plundered ones suffer diminished productive power–the ones “helped” become more dependent on the booty. They become less self-reliant, living their lives as helpless children. Total productivity eventually plummets–hurting all.

If you want to live as a happy, free individual you must reject the philosophy of social altruism. It is detrimental to your loved ones, your pocketbook and your personal liberty and freedom. Continuing to support this predatory philosophy of anti-life is destructive to all the values you worked so hard to achieve. Of course the establishment would like for you to keep believing all the illusions they trick you with. Their motto is ‘You must be kept dumb.” Believe me–they depend on your support–on you continuing to play the part of the victim. Ayn Rand speaks of the “Sanction of the Victim.” Well it is time you withdraw your support, discover your personal power and give up the role of victim.

Personal Altruism

You may be asking “Well what about voluntarily helping others? Shouldn’t one our goals be to help the less fortunate? How about helping family members or close friends?”

Helping others on a personal level isn’t as cut and dried as some may think. I know from some of my own personal experiences.

You are presented with a situation where a friend, relative or even an acquaintance is in a dire situation. As an empathetic human you can actually feel some of their pain and suffering. Your heart goes out to them. If it is your son and daughter that is in trouble it is almost impossible not to help them.

Unfortunately it is possible for your heart to take over and for your head to take a vacation. With good intentions you move forward with the help of your time and money–often to your detriment. Remember the road to hell is paved with good intentions. And what is tragic is the person you “helped” ends up considerably worse off. They fail to help themselves–they end up as much weaker individuals–they lose their initiative and self-reliance. And you are also much worse off–your time and money have vanished–you received nothing in return–not even the satisfaction of performing a good deed.

I have to admit that this has happened to me several times (you’d think I would have learned my lesson after the first time). And I’m still paying the price for my mistakes. “What you don’t learn through wisdom you learn through woe.” Well I’m done with woe. I now learn through wisdom.

I believe in helping others. Doing small favors for others is pleasurable. You feel good and they feel good. However when you do big favors for others such as giving extended help, make sure that it actually benefits everyone involved–or your help could not only be self-destructive but it could also destroy the one you attempted to help.

During the coming economic chaos you have to discriminate between truth and falsehood. You must see through illusion. Otherwise, your own delusions will destroy you.

In Part 2 I will discuss the dangers of irrational selfishness–a phenomena that is out of control.

Robert A. Meyer has been investigating and studying economics, philosophy, psychology and metaphysics for 30 years. Personal Salvation During the Coming Economic Chaos – Part 2

In Part 1 I discussed the destructiveness of social altruism and the pitfalls of personal altruism. Irrational selfishness ties in with altruism because altruists need irrationally selfish people. Often they go hand in hand–attempting to achieve the same illogical goals. Other times it is the self-destructive actions of the irrationally selfish that give altruists, do-gooders, world improvers and politicians something to moralize about–and unfortunately something to campaign against.

One example was prohibition. Some people destroy themselves with excessive alcohol consumption. This is a personal problem that mainly affects the individual and those close to him. The lush, alcoholic or whatever you want to call him is indulging in irrational selfishness. The altruist sees this as a social problem and begins a campaign against the sale and use of alcohol. The next thing you know laws are passed forbidding the sale of alcohol in a futile attempt to discourage its use.

I don’t have to go into all the gory details about the unfortunate consequences of prohibition. Some of these were dangerous bathtub gin, blatant disregard of the law, the rise of organized crime and a decade of the twenties called “the roaring twenties.” The prohibition amendment was finally repealed.

What is amazing is that the same economic laws that doomed prohibition also spell the doom of the drug war. Government has absolutely no chance of winning it. By now you should know that this doesn’t deter government or its representatives (politicians). They have been attacking economic law since the beginning of time–and have intensified their attacks against all logic and reason. That is why we are now witnessing an economic crisis.

Just as you must shun the anti-life philosophy of altruism–you must rid all irrational selfishness from life. It is also critical that you avoid the company of the irrationally selfish whenever possible.

Irrational Selfishness – Others

You have probably heard the old saying about “keeping good company”. Often old-fashion wisdom is applicable to the trials and tribulations of modern times. Irrationally selfish individuals may tell you that these are modern times and the “old ways” are no longer applicable. This is pure hogwash. The laws of human action have been valid since the beginning of time–and will remain valid through eternity. As long as there are beings with the logical structure of mind that humans possess–the laws of human action are true–and can guide the actions of men and women.

Irrationally selfish people indulge in self-destructive behavior. Hanging around these kinds of individuals could very well result in you adopting their ways of acting.

These types of people sacrifice long-term benefits for immediate gratification. They over-eat, shun exercise, drink too much, indulge in dangerous drugs, spend most of their money on unnecessary consumption items, etc. They also indulge in the negative emotions of anger, hate, jealousy, envy and guilt. They have low self-esteem and self-worth because their lives are out of control. Are these the people you want to associate with?

As mentioned earlier altruists need these types of people. Irrationally selfish people are the first ones to line up at the banquet of government benefits and handouts. Obviously since they indulge in self-destructive behavior–and lack self-control and self-sufficiency they come to depend on the “nanny’ state for their very survival. What they consider their personal salvation is poison to you–your beverage of hemlock. Is it any wonder we are rushing head-on into economic chaos?

Personal Irrational Selfishness

Can you afford to indulge in irrational selfishness during the chaos of economic disaster? I think it is obvious that the answer is a resounding NO. Indulging in irrational behavior will only cause you misery–and eventually accelerate your demise. Many people resort to alcohol and drugs during bad times out of sheer despair. They watch too much television or spend money they don’t have on entertainment. They will do anything to escape their pain and suffering–not realizing they are only increasing it in the not too distant future.

I expect you to live a life of joy and ecstasy. It is your perfect right to enjoy Libertarian Pleasures. The irrationally selfish individual has neither joy nor ecstasy in his life–and his enjoyment of Libertarian Pleasures is greatly diminished. There will be no personal salvation for this person.

In Part 3 I will reveal what type of person will survive and thrive during the coming economic chaos.

Robert A. Meyer has been investigating and studying economics, philosophy, psychology and metaphysics for 30 years.
